Customer Service and Retail Professional Program

Our Customer Service and Retail Professional program prepares women for employment in Niagara's thriving tourism and retail industries by providing sales, marketing and customer service training.


Our Customer Service and Retail Professional program includes:

  • Types of retail operations and various positions available
  • Retail terminology and employer expectations
  • Managing customer service, loyalty and concerns
  • Communication and listening skills
  • Visual merchandising and planograms
  • Inventory, inventory counts and control
  • Stockroom organization and packaging
  • Basic cash register skills:
    • Cash drawer set-up
    • P.O.S. (Point of Sale system)
    • Processing debits, credits, discounts and coupons
    • Voids, exchanges and refunds
    • Backup manual procedures if required
  • Steps of sales
  • Workplace safety

This 3 week program taught by retail professionals is followed by work or academic placements for eligible graduates. NWEC works with our community partners at Employment Ontario or the Niagara Catholic District School Board to find work or academic placements following successful completion of the program.
