Enterprise Centre (NWEC) has a mandate to provide assistance, training and resources to unemployed and/or underemployed women in the Niagara Region who want to obtain employment or create a business.
Women and gender diverse people from the LGBTQ+ community often face unique struggles that are a result of the intersectionality of their identities. Our goal is to help all people who face discrimination due to identifying as a woman or gender-diverse person to find meaningful employment and live a comfortable life.
Niagara Women's Enterprise Centre (NWEC) stands as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and strives to create and maintain a safe(r) space for all our clients. We recognize that the barriers to employment for women and gender-diverse people are unique and difficult to overcome. NWEC stands with our community to serve individuals who are looking for meaningful employment and create a safe(r) space.
We commit to cultivating a safe(r) space by acknowledging, respecting, and amplifying the expression of unique LGBTQ+ identities, voices, and stories. We also commit to fostering a culture of understanding by providing resources of knowledge to our community and beyond.
Gender-diverse people that we serve can include:
However, NWEC recognizes that the LGBTQ+ community is made up of many identities, many of which are constantly evolving. As such, all gender-diverse individuals are welcome to receive services from our organization or receive referrals to outside organizations to help them reach their employment goals.
Niagara Women's Enterprise Centre strives to maintain a safe(r) space for all clients. Although we are a Women's Enterprise Centre we recognize that maintaining a safe(r) space for gender-diverse people is an essential service within our community.
